Four Hands is a dance company based between West Yorkshire and Brighton, that primarily provides performance and participatory work for families with young children. Our first performance piece, Touch, was premiered in March and reworked for South East Dance’s Our City Dances Festival in June. With a cast of professional performers, their children and a community cast of local families, Touch explores the themes of connection, intimacy and physical play between parents and their children.
With project support from Yorkshire Dance, supported by Leeds Dance Partnership, artistic directors, Nick Lawson and George Fellows, will be recasting and reworking the show, for Yorkshire Dance’s Encounters Festival on 29th Feb/1st Mar 2020.
For this project we are looking for two adult performers from any artistic background with a focus on movement and physicality (ie. dance, physical theatre, mime, puppetry, circus) to take part in the research & development (R&D), rehearsals and performances of Touch. All applicants must be parent/carers of a child aged 4 to 6 years-old, who they will be working and performing with during the course of the project. We are looking for talented physical performers, who are also open to/confident in working with voice and text. Their children don’t need any movement or performance experience, but will need to be interested in/ happy performing in front of an audience.
All rehearsals will be held at Yorkshire Dance or other studios in or close to Leeds.
Research & Development (R&D): 30th Nov, 1st & 2nd Dec 2019 (Full days – children not required on 2nd Dec)

We recognise that scheduling for parents can be tricky and we encourage you to apply, even if you are not available for all of the R&D/rehearsal dates and we can try our best to be flexible around your needs.
